Teacher of the Year Samantha Hopper Wins State Award
Florida Department of Education officials presented Key Largo School’s Samantha Hopper with the Mary J. Brogan ‘Excellence in Teaching’ award. Ms. Hopper has been an educator for seven years, teaching fourth grade at KLS.
The ‘Excellence in Teaching’ award goes to “extraordinary educators who instill passion, joy and love of learning in their students.” FLDOE officials reported, the award goes to a district teacher of the year who goes above and beyond the classroom experience.
Ms. Hopper said the time spent at the 2018 Teacher of the Year Roundtable promoted collaboration. “The roundtable allows for passionate teachers to collaborate with more passionate teachers from all over our great state. It is an opportunity to be inspired by others, ask questions, celebrate successes, and plan for our future students and future endeavors in education. It is an opportunity to learn from each other and start to think about how teacher leaders can have a positive impact on students beyond our own classrooms.”
